Brrrr... Vikettes try to stay warm during half-time of soccer win at Benton.

The VS girls soccer team is "doing great," says coach Dave Cornell, after the Vikettes' 5-1 win at Benton Thursday evening, where they played on an artificial turf like the one athletic leaders hope to have installed in Vinton in the near future.
We've won 4 out of the last 5 and are now 7-4 on the season.," said the coach, who added that the weather was again an issue for both teams.
"It was rainy and windy all night but the girls played really well. They've come a long way."
Scoring summary:
3 minutes into the first half Lyndsey Cornell scored off a Grace Milroy cross. 6 minutes in Grace Milroy scored from the top corner of the box off a pass by Lyndsey Cornell. 9 minutes in Lyndsey Cornell scored on a long shot from outside the box. 13 minutes into the 1st half Olivia Oltrogge scored off a cross by Grace Milroy. 22 minutes in Lyndsey Cornell scored on another long shot. In the second half Benton scored on a shot that bounced over the head off our goalie,
Chelsey Meier. Chelsey had a really strong second half when the wind was against us. She finished with 20 saves on the night. Most of which came in the second half.
