Jacob Bunge won the 400M hurdles event and was part of the first-place shuttle hurdle team.

The weather finally -- and barely -- cooperated with the Vinton-Shellsburg home track meet schedule. A few weeks after the Early Bird event was delayed and then canceled, a few teams gathered in Vinton for the boys and girls invitational on Tuesday evening. Athletes and spectators endured cold, windy damp conditions.

The Vikings won by a large margin, with 200 points, 60 more than the second-place team. The girls finished with 139 points, just one point below first-place Waterloo East

Winners for the Vikings included: Nolan Sagan, 400;Derek Dinderman, 3200;Jacob Bunge, 400 hurdles; Tyler Bartz, high jump (although second-place Viking finisher Wyatt Meyer also had the same height, 5-8); Wyatt Meyer, long jump; 4 x 200 relay;4 x 400 relay; shuttle hurdle relay.

Vikette first-place winners included: Payton Leonard, 400M; Bristi Gerber, 800M; Lily Horst, 1500M; Maci Griffith, long jump;4 x 100 relay; 4 x 800 relay;800 sprint medley.
