Alyssa Bunge led the Vikette bowlers with a 173/339 performance.

Jacob Gosse ended his last game with a turkey – three strikes in a row, for those of you unfamiliar with bowling terminology – and scored a team high 203 during Friday’s final home contest of the season.

Gosse and Nick Stein (198/367) led the Vinton-Shellsburg varsity boys with a 203 game/400 series as the Vikings continued their winning ways, defeating Waterloo Columbus, 2871-2447

The Viking JV team also won, 2345-1983. The girls team won, as well, 1813 to 1660.

Sam Huss led the JV squad with a 356; Alyssa Bunge bowled a 339 to lead the Vikettes.

"All three teams did a wonderful job this past Friday," said Coach Amber Pattee. "I am so proud to be coaching such an excellent group of kids. The supportive parents and community is great to see each and every meet."
V-S bowlers have one more regular season event, this Friday at 3 p.m. in Oelwein.
"Then it is off to Substate and hopefully some will get to go to the big event at State. There is no doubt that we have the talent to be there," says Coach Pattee.

The team also honored its seniors with a Senior Night tribute. Also, former bowling coach Duane Fisher presented the team with a scrapbook containing photos, newspaper clippings and yearbook pages documenting the history of the Vinton-Shellsburg bowling program from the 1980s and 1990s, including the 1987 state champs.
