This snowman salutes the Vikings basketball team from outside the Lutheran Home.

The communities of the VInton-Shellsburg School District are full of school pride and hope this week as the Vikings prepare for their State Tournament game on Tuesday.

Even the snowman in front of the Vinton Lutheran Home dressed up in black and gold to cheer on the Vikings!

Following is a poem written to go along with the jolly friend, from everyone at the Vinton Lutheran Home Communities!

WE WISH OUR GRANDSONS AND THEIR TEAMMATES

I represent all at the Vinton Lutheran Home

Standing tall and proud, second to none.

Going to State for the basketball tourney,

Will prove to be an outstanding journey.

With Griffith’s three pointers and the Sagans times 2

Rickel’s quick steals and Merchant’s defensive glue.

When Kearns has the ball watch the lane real close,

He’ll spin and pass off much quicker than most.

Coach Johnson’s Bench is a dependable bunch,

With Taylor and Chase to provide the last punch.

Right here I’ll be waiting when you get home,

Number One in the State, a trophy you’ll own.
