Chris Ward: Will begin as Vinton City Coordinator Monday.

Chris Ward has been hired as the new Vinton City Administrator to replace Andy Lent ,who resigned as city coordinator last fall.

"He will start Monday," said City Council member Dave Redlinger.

Council member Tami Stark said the council decided to change the job title to city administrator after Lent left.

In 2001 and 2002, Ward worked for the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments in Waterloo. His focus was on development projects.

In 2002, Ward became the first City Administrator in Wellman, Iowa. He served there until 2003.
From 2004 to 2013, he served as City Manager in West Liberty. Construction of a new park on the northeast side of town and upgrades to infrastructure were major projects for Ward, who has served on the Iowa League of Cities Board of Directors.
Ward met his wife, Melissa, at college. She works as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Iowa. They have a
daughter, Mikayla, and a son, Jaylan. In his spare time, Ward likes to work on cars and build computers. He collects video games.
