News :: VGH employees help Mike Riege celebrate 60th birthday
· 1:27pm January 17th, 2014
Mike Riege's office -- matching the wardrobe of many employees at Virginia Gay Hospital, where the administrator has spent the last 24 years -- is decked in black today.
His staff at VGH helped him celebrate his latest milestone with a surprise party, where they lined the cafeteria to sing "Happy Birthday" before sharing pizza.
Employees draped the door off Riege's office in black and filled the area with black balloons and a variety of comical gifts, including a T-shirt that reads, "Played with dinosaurs."
"I never expected turning 60 to be fun, but it is because of you," Riege told the employees, while thanking them for their hard work during his tenure.
