· 10:14am September 20th, 2013
Mayor John Watson and the three Vinton City Council members who are up for re-election are all running unopposed in the November election.
Watson, whose office is up for re-election every two years, and city council members (four-year terms) Dave Redlinger (at-large), Ron Hessenius (Ward 1) and Ron Elwick (Ward 2) have all turned in nomination papers for their offices. No other candidates have filed papers.

Benton County Supervisor election
The vacancy on the Benton County Board of Supervisors has created a unique election scenario this year in Benton County. Along with the municipal elections in each city in the county, there will be a county-wide contest to replace Jason Sanders, the Republican supervisor who has recently moved to Utah.
The Democrats reconvened their convention to nominate Shelby Parbs; the Republicans did the same and nominated Todd Wiley. Ed Sass, who was the incumbent whom Sanders had originally defeated in 2002, has filed papers to run by nomination.
