News :: Celebration Park wall to be completed today; will offer acces to river
· 11:29am August 30th, 2013
The Celebration Park river wall -- which will also serve as a stairway from the park to the river -- will be completed today, said Dan Hatch, the owner of Hatch Grading & Contracting.
Building a wall along a river bank, by stacking 174 blocks of limestone weighing up to 3,000 to 4,000 pounds, is not something that Hatch and his crew have done often.
"We like to try new things," says Hatch, earlier this week. Hatch and his crew worked most of the week at the park, using surveying equipment and a backhoe to measure, dig and place the limestone blocks. There are 32 larger stones for the bottom layers and 142 smaller one that form the wall.
