August 19, 2014 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Hertle, Frese and Wiley present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Moved by Hertle, seconded by Wiley, to set September 16, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., as the time and date for a hearing on a land use change requested by Dwight & Bonnie Sanders on a parcel located in the NE1/4 NW 1/4 of 33-85-9.

August 8, 2014 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Frese and Wiley present. Supervisor Hertle was on vacation. The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Frese, to approve vendor checks numbered 211085 through 211330, payroll checks numbered 137680 through 137705, and ACH deposits numbered 21331 through 21464, for payment.

Democrats to meet Aug. 28, in Atkins

The regular monthly meeting of Benton County Democrats will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Atkins Park Community Building. On the agenda is the firming up of details for the Oct. 5th Fall Fundraising event at the new Van Horne Community Building and planning for the get out the vote effort for both vote by mail and election day.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Frese, to approve the minutes of July 29, 2014. Both members voting aye thereon.

Benton Co. Sheriff's July report & arrest/citation log

Benton County Sheriff Randall Forsyth reports that deputies answered 283 calls for service and investigated 17 accidents. Deputies attempted to serve 163 civil papers and issued 54 traffic citations and 108 traffic warnings. There were 32 arrests/juvenile referrals with 33 charges being filed in July 2014.

Soil & Water Commission to meet Aug. 20

The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2014. The Commissioners will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the District office in Vinton. Items on the agenda include minutes from previous meetings, financial reports, conservation plans, federal and state cost share programs including new Watershed Project information, and other general business.

Property Tax Reminder

First Half Property Taxes are due before September 1st, 2014, and payable during September without penalty. Mobile Home Taxes and Special Assessments are also due at this time. We are able to accept partial payments toward the amount due on all payments except those for the special assessments and tax sales certificates.

The Benton County Republican Central Committee will hold their monthly meeting this coming Tuesday, August 12th, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in Vinton, at the Benton County Republican office located at 1003 West 4th St., Suite A, in Vinton. If you're coming from 218 South, you'll come into Vinton and go all the way to 4th street (caseys on the corner) and turn left.
