Seats open on Soil & Water Conservation Board; candidates sought

The seats of two members of the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Board will expire this year. Successors will be chosen at the November general election. Newly elected Commissioners will serve a four-year term. “What’s a Commissioner?” you might ask. Conservation district board members are local residents who understand and care about local natural resources.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office participated in the sTEP enforcement wave

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office as part of their grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau participated in the July 1st – July 7th 2014 sTEP enforcement wave. The focus of this project is both public awareness and saturation patrol in an effort to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on Iowa roadways.
