Rain or shine, the Spazmatics will sing in Vinton on Sunday night.

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is happy to announce that the Spazmatics will be performing after all on Sunday, August 24th. The rain out portion of Party in the Park will be completed on that evening with a few adjustments. The Spazmatics will provide some great entertainment for all ages and will be followed by the world class and award winning Bar Y Pyros. They have been storing all of our fireworks since the festival and plan to put on a great show for everyone.

The night will get kick started with Vinton’s very own StraitRun. This family of musicians is becoming one of the hottest bands in the area. Their list of songs starts as far back as the 1950’s through the current stuff you hear on the radio now.

We will also be doing a special medallion hunt in the park that night for kids 10 & under. We will start giving clues at 5:00 p.m. and keep giving them throughout the night until the medallion has been found. All youth can join the hunt unless their immediate family has already received a medallion this year.

Also we have been very fortunate to have 4-5 food vendors commit to come back out to the park that night, so come out for supper and snacks all night long.

Schedule: 5:00 StraitRun/Medallion Hunt begins for Kids

6:30 Recognitions & Awards

7:00 Spazmatics

8:45-9:00 Fireworks

In the case of rain, all entertainment will be held at the Vinton Shellsburg Middle School Gymnasium. Signs will be posted at the park.

If at any time you have a question, give us a call at 472-4164 or stop by the Vinton Recreation Center to talk with one of our staff. Remember, you can always go online to find out what is going on at the VPRD at vprdzone.com.
