Events and Activities :: Night of Destruction: Trailer races, Wall of Fire to return to BC Fair Friday
· 5:05pm July 22nd, 2014
The popular trailer races are returning to the Benton County Fair this Friday night.
Part of the “Night of Destruction” that includes drivers aiming their vehicles through a wall of fire, cars racing chained together (one facing forward, the other facing backwards), the trailer race event is not actually a race to see who finishes first. Rather, it’s a rolling demolition derby, as drivers pull their trucks around the track while attempting to separate the other vehicles from their trailers. The winner is the last driver who can keep his vehicle running with the trailer still attached.
The event leaves the track covered with a thick layer of debris; many drivers decorate their trailers with some unique items.
Wall of Fire
Last year, Kevin Juarez, using the stage name Jalepeno, drive a truck through a wall of fire. This year, says event promoter Ed Callan, a couple of “local daredevils” are planning to drive vehicles through even larger walls of fire. Callan said he is keeping the identity of the drivers a secret for now.
The event will also include a "Tuff Truck-Car" competition, which is somewhat of an obstacle course, and other events.
For rules or more information, call Callan at 319.551.7351.
