Two of popular Vinton Parks and Recreation events take place this week, with the Bike Safety Rodeo set for Tuesday, May 6; and the annual Hershey Track Meet on the calendar for May 10.

Bike Safety Rodeo
Tuesday, May 6
5 PM at the Vinton Recreation Center parking lot
Bring your bike and helmet to the Vinton Recreation Center for a safety inspection and to ensure ensure proper fit. Kids are then welcome to ride the challenging safety course and enter their name in a drawing for a chance to win a special prize. VPRD is grateful to the following sponsors that make this event possible through the generous contribution of prizes and/or volunteers: Vinton Police Department, Vinton Noon Kiwanis, Wilson-Hite Insurance and Matt Phippen/ Iowa City Scheels. No pre-registration is required and this event is completely free!
Hershey Track & Field
Saturday, May 10
9 AM – 11:30 AM at the Karr Athletic Complex (V/S High School Football Field/Track)
Kids have the opportunity this upcoming weekend to run, jump and throw in this always highly anticipated annual event. This meet will take place at the Karr Athletic Complex on Saturday, May 10th. Field events begin at 9 AM with track events then following at 10:15 AM. Pre-registration is absolutely required for this event and all those interested must complete and submit a registration form by Wednesday, May 7th. Forms are available at the Vinton Recreation Center or online This is a free event too!
