Events and Activities :: Rowden benefit set for Saturday at Oak Grove Church
· 10:19am October 18th, 2013
Life-long Shellsburg community member Janine Rowden has faced an ongoing battle with Multiple Sclerosis. This battle comes with many challenges including limited mobility. To aid in her fight for independence, Oak Grove Christian Church is hosting a benefit to raise funds for a chair-lift enabled van and an automatic door opening system for their home. These two things will allow Janine to move more freely in her home as well as allow her the ability to travel outside of her home with more ease.
The event begins at 8 a.m. Saturday (tomorrow) with a pancake breakfast.
A concert featuring Christian music from area performers and church groups begins at 11 a.m.
The Live Action will be at 3 p.m. Items included (but not limited to) a 55 inch used t.v. a brand new flat screen t.v., two beautiful quilts, a diamond ring, a dining room table and chairs, a "Julia Kulish" painting (local people may know who she is, can't wait to see what she is giving us!), a picture from one of the local furniture stores, gift cards to local restaurants and antique items.
A hog roast begins at 4 p.m.
The silent auction will be going on all day ending at 5 p.m.
Other events throughout the day include games for the children, face painting and baked items will also be for sale.
Donations can be sent to Janine Rowden Benefit at any Wells Fargo Bank and the funds will be put in her account. Or you can send to Oak Grove Church, 6101 32nd Ave., Shellsburg, IA 52332
