The public is invited to this free event; Students from many area school districts attend each year. Okee and Randi Walker are leading a group of Vinton-Shellburg attendees.
About Chris Norton
On October 16, 2010, playing for Luther College in Decorah, Chris was severely injured while making a tackle on a kickoff, fracturing his C3-C4 vertebrae. After initially being told he had a 3% chance of ever regaining movement below the neck, Chris has defied the odds every step of the way, demonstrating a faith and determination to overcome that has inspired thousands. He recently began walking on a treadmill, and continues to gain strength.
Through faith, family, and friends Chris has shown a CAN do attitude, never missing a day of therapy in over a year and a half, and recently standing for over 7 minutes completely unassisted. Chris plans on attending law school and to start a foundation in the fall to help other individuals going through a spinal cord injury.
