Vinton Library plans Winter Party for Dec. 29

The Vinton Public Library is having a Winter Party on Monday, December 29th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Participants will watch a movie, play some games, do some crafts and best of all lunch will be served. Please call the library at 472-4208 to make reservations. Cost is free but permission slips are required.

Presbyterian Church to provide Christmas Dinner

The Presbyterian Church of Vinton, 608 1st Avenue, will be providing a free Christmas Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 25 from 12:00 p.m. - to 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This event will be open to the public. There are many people who are alone on Christmas Day, and in the spirit of Christian love, the church will be providing a home-style meal for them.

Prior to his passing at age 94, Judge John Tobin of Vinton, created a slide-show about the legend of Unga-Chuk and Nes-swe-nep-pe.

'Wreaths Across America' to adorn Mt. Auburn veterans' graves Saturday

Saturday, Dec. 13 is Wreaths Across America Day at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m. This is the day that every veteran in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery will have a fresh, handmade wreath placed on his or her grave to recognize that they provided service to our country. "This is the way we can thank those veterans that have gone before us and we will also recognize and thank Veterans who remain with us today," said Ruth Coots Intlekofer, Location Coordinator.

Post Prom Cookie Walk set for Dec. 13

Mobile Food Pantry this Saturday

This Saturday, December 13, the Mobile Food Pantry Day will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. at the HACAP food site. Thanks to friends at Happy TIme and Wesley United Methodist Church we will have lots of food. If you know of anyone in need of food assistance please contact them. If they cannot be there, someone can pick the food up on their behalf, or delivery can be arranged.

Area Students share the Christmas spirit in concert

Concordia University, Nebraska celebrated the Christmas season with its annual Christmas at Concordia concerts Dec. 5-7 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Christmas at Concordia weekend also included the 20th annual Scholarship Parade of Homes and a community reception.
