Entertainment :: In Depth - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
· 6:18am June 13th, 2014
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” springs into action on the Palace big screen Friday, June 13 through Thursday, June 19 at 7 pm nightly, and Monday, June 16 at 2 pm.
While researching this movie, I realized I made an error on the June calendar. I called it “Spider-Man 2,” which is the Tobey Macguire/Kirsten Dunst version. “The Amazing” adaptations feature Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
I’ve seen none of the Spider-Man films. (gasp) However, I just received a brief tutorial from my 23-year-old son who is home for the summer. According to Patrick, the Garfield/Stone Spider-Man is superior. Garfield’s Peter Parker actually creates and designs his own webs, they don’t just fly out of his fingers. Which is complex and very cool. And Emma Stone is just plain awesome. Also, these “Amazing” films focus more on the Spider-Man back-story and Peter’s dad. And I should definitely prioritize my time to watch the first one.
Critics don’t love this film as much as we regular audience members, but do give it two thumbs up for the chemistry between Garfield and Stone.
This latest Marvel adventure is rated PG-13 for action violence, and runs two and a half hours. We expect to be busy, so be sure to snag your tickets in advance to get your favorite seat.
