By all accounts, “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug” is much better than the first installment! And you may judge for yourself Friday, January 10 through Thursday, January 16 at the Palace! This 3D offering, playing every night at 7 pm and Monday at 2 pm, is rated PG-13 and runs almost 3 hours.

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the J.R.R. Tolkien novel continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

We’ve got hot, buttery popcorn and piping hot coffee, cider, and chocolate to keep you cozy and warm throughout the polar vortex.

And thanks to Andrew at Elwick Electric we have awesome new ceiling fans pushing the hot air down to keep the lobby toasty warm, and a new cool air intake system to keep the projector and content server from over-heating.

Tickets are already selling for “The Hobbit,” so stop in to get yours in advance, or check out the new low online price!

The Palace has four extra sets of balcony seats (two seats in a set) for sale. Originally $1,000/set - a steal at $300/set! Perfect for your home theatre.

FROZEN broke two records at the Palace last week, showing to 2121 total patrons and edging out “The Blind Side” (2054) and “Cars” (2082). “Shrek 2” still reigns supreme at a whopping 2675 patrons! Overall, not bad considering we now have 30 less seats! Thanks for supporting the Palace Theatre!
